Cytochrome P450 License Programme

Having solved and published the structures of the first human cytochromes p450, 2C9 and 3A4, Astex has now established a programme to offer licenses to key elements of its intellectual property in this area.

Astex has a number of granted patents in this area including:

  1. GB2395718, covering the use of the crystal structure of cytochrome P450 3A4; granted in GB in January 2005.
  2. EP 1 438 337 B1, covering crystals of cytochrome P450 2C9, structures thereof and their use; granted in Europe in September 2006.
  3. GB 2 408 509, covering the use of the crystal structure of cytochrome P450 3A4; granted in GB on 3rd October 2006.
  4. US 7,148,046, covering crystals of human cytochrome P450 3A4; granted on 12th December 2006.

Pfizer

Pfizer Inc. have taken a non-exclusive, worldwide license to Astex's Cytochrome P450 intellectual property.  Under the terms of the agreement, Pfizer will pay an up-front fee to Astex in return for a license under Astex’s portfolio of granted and pending Cytochrome P450 patents. Additional licenses are available and Astex encourages companies using the crystal structures or structural coordinates to contact us to discuss license terms.
